Around 280 Citi alumni in the Philippines gathered to honor two former colleagues who are both luminaries of the banking industry. William Go, founder of Chinatrust Philippines, served as its President and the current Vice Chairman of CTBC Bank (Philippines), is the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award for Leadership and Eugene Acevedo, former President and CEO of RCBC and author, is the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award for Network Development.
Acevedo not only served as a banking CEO, he is also a leadership mentor, and a champion of the Citi experience. He became president and CEO of the Philippine National Bank. He later joined UnionBank of the Philippines as senior executive vice president in 2011, becoming chairman of its thrift bank subsidiary, CitySavings, in 2013. Acevedo then took the helm of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, appointed as its President and CEO in 2019, and retiring in June of 2025.
Go is a seasoned banker, visionary leader, and respected figure in the Philippine financial industry, known for his integrity, foresight, and unwavering commitment to developing people and organizations. He later held key management positions at China Banking Corporation and served as President of Philippine Bank of Communications from 1985 to 1995. In 1995, Go founded Access Banking Corporation, which later became Chinatrust (Philippines) Commercial Bank, now CTBC Bank (Philippines) Corp., and served as its first President. His leadership established the institution as a strong and trusted player in the Philippine banking landscape. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board of CTBC Bank (Philippines) since October 2001.
In his welcome remarks to former colleagues, Citi Philippines CEO and Banking Head, Paul Favila lauded the achievements of the two honorees and said, “In this industry, we often measure success through performance and results.
